Job Loss, Unemployment, and Older Workers

On November 5, the Labor Department announced that American jobs grew in October by 151,000 non-farm payrolls. This is the first monthly job increase since May, indicating how evasive recovery has been. In the November edition of the Program on Retirement Policy video series, Richard W. Johnson tackles such key questions as, how have older workers fared in this challenging job market? Why have employers been hesitant to hire older workers? How has older workers’ ability to save and plan for retirement been affected?
